Background:	LHP1/TFL2 is a nuclear chromodomain protein that binds methylated histones (H3K27me, H3K9me) to repress target genes. It regulates meristem identity, flowering time, and maintains the vernalized state. LHP1 localizes preferentially to euchromatin, not heterochromatin.
