Background:	SMXL7 is a nuclear transcriptional corepressor in strigolactone signaling. It regulates shoot branching, cotyledon expansion, and lateral root growth, and promotes auxin transport. SMXL7 is degraded upon strigolactone perception in a MAX2- and D14-dependent manner. It also modulates genome architecture via H3K27me3 epigenetic regulation.
