COX1 / Anti-Cytochrome c oxidase subunit COX1, mitochondrial antibody

COX1 / Anti-Cytochrome c oxidase subunit COX1, mitochondrial antibody

Cytochrome c oxidase is the last enzyme in the respiratory electron transport chain of mitochondria and it is also called Complex IV. Cytochrome c oxidase receives an electron from each of four cytochrome c molecules, and transfers them to one oxygen molecule, converting molecular oxygen to two molecules of water. In higher plants mitochondria, Complex IV processes 14 subunits. COX1 (ATMG01360); COX2 (ATMG00160)  and COX3 (ATMG00730) are subunits of the Complex IV.

PhytoAB has antibody PHY1124S for COX1, PHY0580S for COX3, PHY1125S for COX3, PHY0016S, PHY1302S, PHY1412S for COX2, the immunogens are KLH-conjugated synthetic peptides of COX1;2;3 derived from Arabidopsis thaliana.

Among 25 analyzed species, the sequence of the synthetic peptide COX1 used for immunization is 100% homologues with the sequence in Sorghum bicolor, Hordeum vulgare subsp. vulgare, Triticum aestivum, Gossypium raimondii, Zea mays, Zea mays subsp. mays, Vitis vinifera, Medicago truncatula, Glycine max, Cucumis sativus, Oryza sativa Japonica Group.
