Exploring chloroplast RNA editing with PhytoAB

Why is a chloroplast RNA-editing event present in Arabidopsis but lost in tea and tomato?

Zhang and colleagues investigated QED1-mediated recruitment of MORF cofactors and its role in editing the chloroplast ndhB-872 site. Expressing Arabidopsis QED1 restored editing in tea and tomato. In transgenic tomatoes, this was accompanied by reduced photosynthetic performance and delayed fruit ripening—highlighting the importance of species-specific editing regulation.

PhytoAB antibodies used in the study’s western blot workflow:

  • PHY2578S: AtQED1/OTP81 — Primary antibody for analysis of AtQED1 protein in transgenic and wild-type tomato leaves.

  • PHY6000: Goat anti-rabbit IgG H&L (HRP) — Secondary antibody for chemiluminescent detection.
