Exploring flavonoid–protein interactions with PhytoAB

Exploring flavonoid–protein interactions with PhytoAB

Could flavonoids influence plant proteins beyond scavenging reactive oxygen species?

Ray and colleagues identified 397 high-confidence candidate proteins through rutin affinity capture in Arabidopsis. They investigated chloroplast 2-Cys peroxiredoxin A, finding evidence of flavonoid interactions and inhibition of its enzyme activity in vitro. The physiological relevance remains to be established.

PhytoAB antibody used in this study

The researchers used PHY7344S, anti-2-Cys peroxiredoxin BAS1/BAS1-like, chloroplastic, at 1:1,000 for the Figure 3 immunoblots examining PRXA/B abundance and oligomeric states.
