Isolating photosynthetic supercomplexes while preserving their light-harvesting antennae is challenging. In Photosynthesis Research, Hao and colleagues optimized an α-DDM/digitonin method that improved LHCII retention and reduced photosystem I co-isolation from Fittonia albivenis. The approach also worked in Epipremnum aureum and Hygrophila difformis.

PhytoAB’s Lhcb1/3 antibody (PHY0085A) was used in Western blotting to assess light-harvesting antenna proteins in the isolated fractions. Together with PSII core detection and other analyses, these results supported preservation of PSII–LHCII associations.

The researchers also used PhytoAB’s goat anti-rabbit IgG H&L secondary antibody (PHY6000) for immunoblot detection.
